How many kidneys do we have?

The anatomy professor, a man who treated his ego like a sacred relic, pointed a finger at a student. “You there. How many kidneys do we have?”

“Four,” the student replied instantly.

The professor smirked, turning to his assistant. “Bring in a bale of hay. We have a donkey in the room.”

“And a coffee for me!” the student called out.

The class gasped. The professor, red-faced, began to roar, but the student stood up, packed his bag, and paused at the door.

“Professor, you asked how many kidneys we have. Since there are two of us in this conversation, the answer is four. Enjoy your lunch,” he gestured to the hay, “I’ll be at the cafe.”

The student was actually the well-known humorist Aparicio Torelly Aporelly (1895–1971), also called the ‘Baron of Itararé.’
